First Year Fall 2026
Next Steps Checklist

You’re on your way to becoming a Pointer!

Below you will find a list of key actions, opening dates and deadlines. Please complete these next steps in a timely manner!

WORK ON NOW

ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT AND EMAIL

Use the UWSP ID # (from your admit letter/email) and your Social Security # to retrieve your UWSP username and activate your email account.

Activating your account does not commit you to enroll at UW-Stevens Point. However, it is an important first step that unlocks access to next steps including housing and dining application, scholarship application and course registration.

If you have any questions while activating your account, contact UWSP Information Technology at 715-346-4357 or help@uwsp.edu.

ORIENTATION &
ACADEMIC ADVISING

Sign up for or review your Orientation and Academic Advising sessions through the Admitted Student Portal using your UWSP email and password.

Admitted Student Portal

In-person Orientation is where you will receive your PointCard (student ID), learn about campus resources, and familiarize yourself with the location of your classes. Orientation is a required event. Parents and guests are welcome to attend.

During your virtual Academic Advising appointment, you’ll meet one-on-one with an adviser to select your courses for the upcoming semester.

PLACEMENT TESTING
SIGN-UP

All incoming first-year students admitted to UWSP are required to complete placement tests - Math A and English. Foreign Language is optional. These tests are designed to place you in the most appropriate college level courses.

For additional details, check out this quick guide to Placement Testing.

Placement testing must be completed
at least two weeks prior to your Academic Advising appointment
so you can register for classes.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN.

ACCEPT YOUR ADMISSION

Accepting your admission does not commit you to enroll at UW-Stevens Point. However, it does guarantee your spot as a Pointer for fall 2026!

Students who accept their admission also receive priority access to register for Admitted Student Day, Orientation and Academic Advising.

Click “Accept” in the Admission Tile on accesSPoint to guarantee your spot!

HOUSING AND DINING

Complete your FREE housing and dining applications - no deposit required!

Submitting your application saves your spot in line to choose a room during selection time in June 2026. This does not lock you into enrolling at UWSP.

Review housing options and application instructions.

Eligible to live off campus? Complete the Application for Exception to Housing Requirements.

Questions? Contact Housing at 715-346-3511 or housing@uwsp.edu.

New Students Move-in Day:
Saturday, August 29

FINANCIAL AID

FAFSA is now open! You can complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Be sure to list UWSP's school code: 003924.

For questions, contact the Office of Financial Aid and Veteran Services at 715-346-4771 or finaid@uwsp.edu.

HOUSING AND DINING

For Students with a Signed Housing Contract:

New student room selection will take place in June. You’ll receive an email in your UWSP account with your assigned selection appointment time and details on when the process closes.

New Students Move-in Day:

Saturday, August 29

You’ll be able to choose your move-in time slot through the housing portal starting in mid-July.

Questions? Contact Housing at 715-346-3511 or housing@uwsp.edu.

POINTCARD (UWSP ID)
& TEXTBOOKS

After you register for classes, you can submit your PointCard photo here: PointCard Office.

We highly recommend completing this step before Orientation so you can pick up your PointCard during the event.

Your PointCard will be used to check out your textbooks and required to move into the residence halls.

Textbook rental is included in tuition.
More information is available during Orientation.

PARKING

Parking permits open up July 14 at 8 a.m. CT for first-year students.

Watch your UWSP email and the parking website closely in June and July for more information. Students need to be registered for classes in order to be eligible for a permit.

Permits are limited and do typically sell out, so the earlier you join the parking queue on July 14 the better chance you have to secure a parking permit.

Visit the UWSP Parking website to learn more.
